Elcis Incremental shaft encoders

This series of incremental encoders has been designedly developed by ELCIS for industrial and professional uses where minimum size is required without affecting technical performances. All these encoders are all-metal construction, turned from rod, with high precision ball bearings (ABEC 5) and stainless steel shaft. In spite of their small size they yield a good protection to environmental conditions (dust, oil, moisture), a proper operation in a wide temperature range and a high frequency response. LED light source (100000 hours MTBF), push-pull connection of detecting phototransistors, components from surface mounting series, accurate design engineering and extended at high and low temperatures assure high reliability. The number of pulses/rev. is from minimum of 1 up to a maximum of 5000 (in according to those available for each model).

Transducers for industrial and professional purposes, developed for use in severe evinronmental conditions as on machine tools, textile machines, tanning industry, rolling mills, shipyards (mod. 90A, 115, 115R), marble machining, concrete machining, wood machining. All metal construction, with high precision ball bearings (ABEC 5), stainless steel shaft with two "O-ring" sealings; special version mod. 115R has two metallic covers. By this way, an high degree of protection to extremely adverse environmental conditions (dust, oils, moisture, water) is assured. The abounding size of shaft, ball bearings and mechanic parts (mainly in mod. 90A, 102, 115, 115R and 120) allow these encoders to be equipped with pinions, metric wheels, pulleys for cogged belts a.s.o. Unbreakable inner coded disc further increases the shock and vibration resistance of these units. High reliability and extended operating temperature range are assured by use of LED light source (100000 hours minimum operating life), push-pull connection of detecting phototransistors, professional grade components, accurate design engineering, extended tests at high and low temperatures. The number of pulses/rev. is from minimum of 1 up to a maximum of 20000 (in according to those available for each model).

High resolution of these transducers, matched to high operating frequency (up to 1 MHz), open the way to new possibilities in the dividers and angular positioners field, at low prices and noticeable precision. The maximum number of available pulses/rev. is 90000 (in according to those available for each model). The pass-through encoders are supplied with an inner self-adjusting coupling.

ELCIS know-how on these transducers is evidenced by the number of patents having been registred. Encoders are equipped with an internal special coupling allowing for compensation of both axial and radial slack of the motor shaft to which they are coupled. A confirmation of the product validity is given by the fact that many motor manufacturers standardized the fitting of these encoders on their motors: several fitting flanges, are available for installation of these encoders on any kind of motor. Elcis development department will study particular "custom" version on request. The number of pulses/rev. is from minimum of 1 up to a maximum of 20000 (in according to those available for each model). ELCIS realized upon request the encoder assembling on motors supplied by the customers.

Elcis Absolute shaft encoders

ELCIS single turn absolute encoders are designed for industrial and professional duties. Their mechanical components, completely made of turned metal, provide a good tightness to external agents (dust, oil, moisture). Shafts and bearings (ABEC 5) are made of stainless steel. LED light source (100000 hours minimum life), professional components, accurate circuits engineering and continuous quality tests assured high reliability to the product. Max. number of div./rev. is 65536 equal to 16 bits (in according to those available for each model).

These particular transducers have two matched encoders: absolute and incremental. This allows a high application flexibility, for any purpose. On request, special custom version can be developed. Typical application of these encoders is the keying on "Brushless" motors in which the "absolute" section describes the motor's strokes. Max. incremental resolution is 2540 pulses/rev., the absolute one is 256 div./rev. equal to 8 bit (in according to those available for each model).

ME90 encoder is an incremental encoder with internal counting circuitry. Thanks to its low current absorption, it may be powered by a back-up battery to keep on operation even in case of black-out. These features and its low price make this unit a valid replacement of multiturn absolute encoder. A standard large range of pulses per revolution is available. A special internal circuit allows the available pulses per revolution to be multiplied by 1, by 2 or by 4. Following outputs are available: - 6 decades (999999) in BCD code version; - 24 bits (16777216) in binary or Gray version.

These transducers are shaft encoders which give absolute measurements on more than one revolution of their shaft. The encoders have a mechanic gear train which transmits the movement of its master disc to a series of slave discs for shaft revolution counting. An electronic circuit cancels any mechanic backlash of the gear train, thus yielding a detection's. They are mechanically strong and properly engineered in their electronics, optical and mechanic parts, being thus able to withstand heavy duty conditions.

The prestigious Belgian institute ISSeP of Liege provided Elcis with the latest certifications ATEX II 2 G Ex d II C T6 Gb and ATEX II 2 D Ex tb III C T85°C Db IP6X, according to CENELEC rules and CESI provided the Product Quality Assurance Notification. This absolute encoder series is suitable for use on working environments with explosive atmosphere (except for mines with grisù) due to gas (G) and/or dust (D). The available models are extremely sturdy; they are made in turned from rod metal with precision bearings and stainless steel shaft. On request these encoders can be completely stainless steel.
